Get to know Andrew
Andrew Straight is an actively performing trombonist and music educator who has taught middle, high school, and adult students all over the world, many of whom have gone on to become music educators and performers in their own right. Born in 1982 to a family of musicians and educators, Andrew studied piano in elementary school before taking up the trombone in 5th grade. Since then, Andrew has studied with many master conductors, pedagogues, and performers including Don Lucas (Boston University), Natalie Steele Royston (Abilene Christian University, Iowa State University ) John Kitzman (Dallas Symphony, Southern Methodist University), Ron Wilkins (Trombocalist), Brian Hecht (Atlanta Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra), and Nathan Zgonc (Atlanta Symphony Orchestra). He has performed in great concert halls around the world including the Rudolfinum in Prague, Czech Republic, and the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX. He performs regularly at Christ Church Anglican in Overland Park, KS. Andrew, his wife, and four children recently relocated to the Kansas City area from Colorado.
