      About Andy Warren

      Andy Warren
      Andy Warren
      Music Teacher, Master
      Location: Mamaroneck, NY
      Speaks: English
      Instructs: Trumpet, Piano
Education: BFA in Jazz Studies from the University of Michigan, MM in Jazz Composition from Queens College (in progress)
Performance Experience: I've stayed versatile in my performance career, playing genres such as jazz, classical, salsa, rock, R&B/soul, & musical theatre. I've played at esteemed venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Birdland, Blue Note, Dizzy's, Iridium, BBKing's, & the Detroit and South Carolina Jazz Fests. I also toured with two international musical theatre shows (Dreamgirls & A Christmas Story). Groups I've played with include Fleur Seule, Jehu El Rey, Ed Palermo Big Band, Maati Baani, & Sal Valentinetti.
Teaching Experience: I've taught a variety of students from beginners to near-professionals and toddlers to adults. While in New York, I've taught with the Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance for the last three years and have recently begun working with Mozart for Munchkins. Prior to those, I was an instructor for three years with Music Path Company's MusicStart program. While in Michigan, I worked for two years with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Jazz Program, leading ensembles and serving as their Trumpet Mentor.
Teaching Philosophy: I think that learning music should be fun above all else! My job as a teacher is to set up students for a lifetime of loving music, so I tailor my lessons to include the types of music that they are interested in. I also avoid a cookie-cutter approach in my methods, as what works for one student might not necessarily work for the next, so I shape my lessons around the particular skillset and goals of each person.
