About Anthony Pezzelle
Get to know Anthony Pezzelle
Anthony Pezzelle is the Director of Education and Curriculum for Compoze Music Solutions and the Director of Piano Instruction at Thomas G. Pullen Arts Academy in Prince George's County.
During his time in Prince George's county, Mr. Pezzelle designed the county level Creative Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) Piano Curriculum, the Framework for Elementary Piano Instruction in Grades 3-4, the Revised Solo and Ensemble Piano Scoring Rubric, and several district level piano assessments. Most recently, he worked with and supervised a team of piano teachers tasked with rewriting the piano curriculum for all grade levels in PGCPS. He also spearheaded the design of the districts piano instructional materials for distance learning.
Outside of teaching, Anthony develops content for the iOS application ScoreSkills by Compoze. ScoreSkills takes the DuoLingo approach and applies it to music education seeking to enable users to read, write, and understand music aurally.
Anthony holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Anderson University and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Westminster College. He studied Music Production with Loudon Stearns from the Berklee College of Music and has over 10 years of experience composing both hybrid orchestral and traditional instrumental and choral music.
Specializing in an Apprenticeship Model of Music Instruction, Mr. Pezzelle believes that the goal of music study is to help students reach a point of musical independence. Thereby empowering the students to apply their musical skills in a way that gives them the most meaning and opportunity for expressive artistry.
