Get to know Arthur Graham
Arthur has over 30 years of performing, recording, and coaching various genres of music. He has studied bass guitar, trombone and music theory under Professor John Lampkin from the University of Maryland. He has also studied at Berklee College of Music where he received his Masters cert. in Jazz piano, jazz bass, theory, harmony and ear training.
Arthur has toured across the nation on keyboards with local artists and with reggae icon, Junior Reid. He was the house jazz pianist for 16 years at the legendary NJ shore restaurant, Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty. He has arranged and played piano/keyboards/bass guitar on the stage at the Theater at Madison Square Garden,Count Basie Theatre RedBank N.J., First Avenue home of Prince in Mineapolis Minnesota, Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City Center and the Prudential Center with the McDonald’s Gospelfest under the direction of Curtis A. Farrow. Arthur has also written, recorded and engineered Jazz, Gospel and Reggae CD’s for assorted local artists. Currently, Arthur is the Gospel choir director/pianist at First Baptist Church in Belmar N.J.
His instruments for lessons are piano/keyboards, bass guitar and trombone. However, along with teaching the standard lessons of sight-reading and instrumental skills, he uses his expertise of performing in front of large stadiums to place a strong emphasis on his students to learn the specialty of performance, arranging, theory and improvisation. Arthur keeps his students excited about learning through his vibrant teaching method which he conforms to each student’s individual learning style and pace. He loves to teach all levels from age 5 to adult.
