Teaching Experience: August began teaching viola and violin while a counselor at the Summer String Festival of the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey where he is now substitute faculty

Get to know August

August DuBeau is a current master’s student at Stony Brook University studying viola performance under the tutelage of Lawrence Dutton and Matthew Lipman. Previously, he attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, graduating in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in viola performance and music theory. During his undergraduate studies, August participated in CIM’s Advanced String Quartet Seminar as violist of the Ilo Quartet, prizewinners in the 8th Stockholm International Music Competition and the 2021 Coltman Chamber Music Competition. He is continuing his specialized study of chamber music within the Emerson String Quartet Institute of SBU’s graduate music school as a member of the Harlo Quartet. August began teaching viola and violin while a counselor at the Summer String Festival of the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey where he is now substitute faculty.
