Get to know Austin Shugart
Austin Shugart is a 25 year old graduate from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy. Austin has worked with an abundance of client populations including geriatric rehabilitation, juvenile detention, medical rehabilitation, end of life care, typically functioning children, and a wide array of clients on the Autism Spectrum Disorder and during his degree program. Austin has also been a part of several musical events such as live gigs, musicals, all-state choir, church choruses, and music therapy sessions. He dreams of one day allowing music to spread joy to others as it has brought him, and by doing so, creating a warm and loving environment to make and create music. Austin teaches beginner voice, guitar, piano, and ukulele. For Austin, it does not matter what skill level you are at, as long as you are passionate about making music, he is more than willing to help you on your journey. Whether it is something as simple as learning how to sing or play songs around a campfire, or trying to audition for musicals or solos, he is always up for the challenge! Austin’s future goals are to become a licensed music therapist, and then continue his education towards a master’s degree in vocal pedagogy. In his free time, Austin enjoys reading fantasy,science-fiction, and mystery novels, watching anime and sit-coms , and playing video games.
