Get to know Benita Slater
Bonnie Slater has been playing saxophone and teaching from a young age. She has played with and for some of music's biggest names: Wynton Marsalas, Itzak Perlman and Stevie Wonder to name a few. She is a graduate of Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins. She earned their highest honor there by winning the Yale Gorden Concerto Competition . She is most proud of performing for The Emperor and Empress of Japan at The White House in 1994.She has performed for 3 US Presidents and other dignitaries. She has been teaching others music for over thirty years to people of all ages,levels and abilities. David Sanborn once told her: "Music is the Healing Art" Bonnie is living proof of this. She lives to share the magic of music.
