Betsy Rabon
Hi! I’m
Betsy Rabon and I’m very excited to be back teaching here at Music & Arts.
I’m a Graduate of Westminster Choir College and The University of Houston. I am
a professional musician and have been teaching for over 30 years.
While at
Westminster, I had the opportunity to study accompanying with the great Martin
Katz in New York City. I also had the opportunity to accompany and sing under
famous conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, John Rutter, Robert Shaw,
and Dave Brubeck. I also had the opportunity to sing in Avery Fisher Hall and
Carnegie Hall multiple times under these conductors.
I love
introducing the world of piano to the very young student up to any age of a
student. I care very deeply for each one of my students and I work very hard to
meet their needs. I believe in finding the right music for each student. I
search for that special piece to keep them motivated, happy, cared for, but
most importantly successful.
I also
teach voice and do a lot of vocal coaching. I love preparing students for
contests, district, region, state, musicals, and the list goes on. Many of my
students have been very successful at State and on Stage. I also enjoy teaching
young children correct singing. I am trained in Vocal Pedagogy and understand
the young voice.
Lastly,
I am very blessed in that several of my students have wanted to pursue their
love and passion for music at the University of North Texas, Sam Houston
University, University of Houston, and West Chester University.
