About Biljana Jovanovic
Music Teacher, Master
Location: Alexandria, VA
Education: Master's Degree in Musicology, Graduate Degree in Piano, Certificate in Multimedia Studies. I have also been a member NVMTA and MTA for over 10 years.
Performance Experience: I used to perform in concerts at the Stankovic Music School.
Teaching Experience: I started teaching when I was 16. I helped my piano teacher as an assistant to teach her other students. After that, I was teaching while taking classes at the University of Belgrade. After graduating, I taught piano and electric keyboard for 6 years before coming to the United States. I have been teaching with Music & Arts for about 9 years.
Teaching Philosophy: I combine European and American teaching methods to help students learn piano based on their preferences and experience levels. I believe that rhythm is the most important aspect of learning how to play an instrument. The more the student knows about music theory at the beginning, the easier it will be for them as they progress.
