About Billy Seawell

Hello! I am Billy Seawell, and I love playing the drums. I grew up in Greensboro, NC. My musical journey began in the sixth grade when I started taking drum lessons and joined the school band. In high school, I was deeply involved in both the jazz band and marching band, which further fueled my passion for percussion.

I graduated from Appalachian State University, where I had the privilege of playing in the jazz band, orchestra, wind ensemble, and percussion ensembles. Those years were instrumental in shaping my musical journey.

After college, I played drums on cruise ships and then moved to Asheville, NC, where I’ve lived for 23 years. Here, I play with the Asheville-based musical group Snake Oil Medicine Show, blending my love for jazz with a variety of musical styles, including bluegrass.

I’m also thrilled to share that I’m a father and fluent in Spanish. Teaching is a true passion of mine; I enjoy working with students of all ages, helping them discover the joy of music. Whether it’s percussion, drum set, or beginner guitar, my goal is to inspire and nurture my students’ musical abilities. I look forward to our musical adventures together!
