Get to know Bonnie McManaman
Bonnie McManaman is a full time musician. She is a performer, composer, arranger, and educator of music. Bonnie earned her Master of Music degree with an emphasis in Jazz Studies in 2002 from the University of Maryland. She also received her Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Saxophone Performance in 2000, from the University of Maryland, Summa Cum Laude.
Bonnie has performed all over the world. Most recently, in 2007 she was chosen to go on tour to China as the Assistant Concertmaster (on violin) with the Mantovani Orchestra. She was one of 39 musicians chosen from across the country to go on tour. Bonnie has also been featured on television as a saxophone soloist with Billy Taylor, as well as a guest violinist at the Kennedy Center. She was also selected to be a guest saxophonist & violinist for the National Orchestral Institute. Bonnie describes that experience as one of the highlights of her career, and was so honored to perform a sax solo with the N.O.I. That concert featured Rachmaninov's "Symphonic Dances". She also performs in New York's "Tavern on the Green".
Bonnie is an award winning musician. She won the Pennsylvania State University Concerto Competition for her solo saxophone performance.
Bonnie regularly performs in an entertainment band on acoustic & electric violin, saxophone- (alto, tenor, soprano, & sopranino), flute and clarinet in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. She founded the M3 Trio with her two sisters Joy and Emily. Together, they perform for corporate & private events and weddings.
As a music educator, Bonnie teaches private students of all ages. She loves many styles of music, and is versed in the Classical, Jazz, Celtic, Folk, and Pop genres. She encourages her students to bring in their favorite music, so that practicing becomes a labor of love.
