Get to know Brad Batz
Brad Batz has a M.M. in Music Performance of Multiple Woodwinds from New Jersey City University where, he was a Graduate Assistant teaching woodwind methods and conducting wind ensemble. He also holds a B.M. in Music Education from Nazareth, and Studies in Jazz Composition from The Eastman School of Music, Classical Saxophone from Yale and Church music From William Carey University.
Currently, Brad is The Director of Jazz Studies at Nazareth College of Rochester where he Conducts Lab Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Loose Change Combo. He also teaches jazz Improvisation on all instruments and Lectures in Jazz History, Jazz Theory and Jazz Composition. Brad is an active woodwind doubler and jazz musician in and around the tri-state area. He freelances and plays with various groups including Al Chez and The Brothers of Funk, Brad Batz Group, Nostalgic Reunion, Roger Eckers Big Band, and Spanky Haschmann Swing Orchestra. Brad has performed as musical director for Martha Reeves and has performed as opening act for Joan Rivers, 10,000 Maniacs, and Bruce Hornsby. He has also shared the stage with Jazz Greats, including Jimmy Health, Eddie Daniels, Randy Brecker, Wycliffe Gordon, Eddie Palmieri, Frank Wess, Joe Lovano, Paul Smoker, Eric Marienthal, Wyane Bergeron as well as R and B greats, Freddie Greene and Mic Gillette and Tom Politzer of Tower of Power.
Brad is an artist clinician for Rigotti Reeds, Hubb Woodwinds, Oleg Saxophone Products, and ChopSaver Lip-balm for musicians.
