Get to know Brian Morris
Brian Morris Jr. Is a graduate of Temple University, a 23-24 Grammy-nominated artist, and teaches all woodwind instruments. His major was music education with a concentration in jazz performance. Brian has extensive playing and teaching experience in the Philadelphia area. Specifically, Brian has played and collaborated with some of the best jazz musicians in the music scene, such as Larry McKenna, Adam Nussbaum, Mike Boone, John Swana, Tim Warfield, Dick Oatts, and Chad Leftkowitz-Brown. Brian's massive amount of performing experience led him to one of the most important teaching experiences of his career as a Music Instructor at the Philadelphia Clef Club for the Performing Arts. During Brian's time at the Philadelphia Clef Club, he was able to work with students ranging from 6-40 years old. In addition, Brian led ensemble rehearsals, music theory classes, private lessons, and presented his ensembles at a variety of concerts. His most recent and current teaching position is as the Instrumental Music Director at Samuel Fels High School. As the Instrumental Music Director, Brian was expected to run several ensembles such as Concert Band, Orchestra, Drumline, and Jazz Band. Brian's greatest accomplishment with Samuel Fels so far was expanding the concert band from only 13 members to over 60 musicians who most all started an instrument in 2023! In addition, Brian's Jazz Band performed at the Cherry Street Pier in Penn's Landing for the All-City Jazz Festival which featured Terrell Stafford. Outside of teaching, Brian likes to spend his free time with his fiancé and their new puppy.
