Get to know Byron Yount
Byron Yount currently holds positions with the Orquesta Filarmonica de Sonora (principal trumpet), Tucson Pops Orchestra (third trumpet) and Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra (second trumpet). He is also a substitute/extra trumpeter with the Phoenix Symphony. Formerly, he was a member of Navy Band Northeast, performing with Top Brass Quintet and Northeast Navy Showband, a swing-style big band. Mr. Yount is a former member of The Gramercy Brass of New York, principal trumpeter of the New Jersey Pops Orchestra and founder and leader of the New Jersey Chamber Music Society Brass Quintet. Mr. Yount holds a Master of Music from the University of Rhode Island and, thanks to the Montgomery G.I. Bill, nearly completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Arizona. Additionally, Mr. Yount is a Wellness Coach for brass musicians struggling with severe imbalances or other playing difficulties, and therefore has many tools to incorporate into helping young players to develop a solid foundation and a positive, uplifted approach to making music.
