Candace
Keach, originally from Athens, Georgia was principal flutist with the
Macon Symphony for thirty years. She is
currently principal flutist with the Carroll Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of the University of Georgia with
post-graduate studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, she has
been a featured soloist with the Macon Symphony as well as with summer music
festivals in Italy, Switzerland, and France. She has also been featured with the Atlanta
Woodwind Quintet in the nationally syndicated radio broadcast, “Performance
Today”. She has performed with the
Atlanta Boy Choir in concerts throughout Europe, America and Canada including
at St. Peter’s in Rome, St. Mark’s in Venice, the Tyne Cathedral in Prague, the
Great Hall of the Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, the Musikverein in Vienna,
and Chartres Cathedral in Paris. She became
principal flutist with the Atlanta Ballet and the Atlanta Chamber Orchestra
soon after moving to Atlanta in the 1980’s.
Her orchestral experience has also included performances with the
Atlanta, Birmingham and Greenville Symphonies and the National Touring
Company’s “Phantom of the Opera”.
Candace is flute instructor at The Westminster Schools and at Spelman
College and is in demand for masterclasses at high schools and middle schools
across the Atlanta metro area. Her
private students have consistently performed successfully for Allstate, AYWS, ASYO,
MYSO, and at Brevard, Interlochen & Tanglewood Summer Institutes. Her own studies included private lessons with
the legendary and renown flutist, Marcel Moyse.
