About Carol Nethen West

Carol Nethen West is a musician of a diverse background. Her young life, in Annapolis, MD included dance accompanying, piano recitals, playing Beatles’ songs on a baritone ukulele and playing for school plays. Carol has a music education degree from the University of Maryland and has taught elementary music in the classroom, at a community college and privately, as a piano teacher. While in graduate school, at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, she pursued a combination degree in music composition and audio production which led to a busy professional life as a composer in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area. Carol also taught many piano students in her home studio in Annapolis, MD. She honed her pianistic, conducting and producing skills in many recording studio sessions with vocalists, instrumentalists and sound engineers. She has accompanied on piano and organ for church congregations in Florida and North Carolina. She enjoys learning and performing music of many different styles, composing/arranging and spending time outdoors in natural settings such as the mountains of Western North Carolina.
