Get to know Carson Longacre
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Carson has a vibrant passion for all things music, in both the listening and performance aspect. His decade-long and ongoing career as a musician has blessed him with a variety of performance experiences in the classical and jazz genres. In high school, he performed and soloed as principal of the school's marching band, show choir band, symphonic band, jazz band, and various county and district ensembles. He performed first trombone in the pit ensemble of the school's production of Lin Manuel Miranda's "In the Heights" musical. Once enrolled in college, he received private lessons from several seasoned professionals in the field of trombone performance; some of whom he has ongoing lessons and communications with. As principal of the VCU Symphony Orchestra, he had experience performing on stage with the world-renowned pianist Sonia Rubinsky. As his career continues to grow and expand, Carson is interested in extending his practice techniques and fondness for the music he performs to students in an amazing venue.
