Performance Experience: international, professional performer of keyboards and vocalist with US Army Field Band of Washington DC /currently international ,professional performer for events in USA, Germany, Canada.
Teaching Experience: over 10 years collegiate and precollege piano, voice, clarinet teaching with students achieving honors awards in local and scholarship competitions. Teaching Philosophy: Every student has a gold mine inside of them--their own unique musical creativity and experssion . a good teacher seeks to recognize this and develop it, and to have the student see its value. Good teaching includes all styles of music: classical, popular, rock, jazz, world music; as well as ear training and harmony training, basic music theory; in every weekly lesson.

Get to know Catherine Burge

Catherine Burge holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado.

She serves as adjunct professor of music for St Louis College-Forest Park and Greenville University, as well as maintains a music performance and teaching studio in Greenville, IL and for Music and Arts in Fairview Heights, IL. Catherine is also organist and pianist for St. John's United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL. Catherine auditioned and obtained an assignment as a vocalist in the alto section of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Chorus under Choral Director Amy Kaiser.

She plays collaborative piano for Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorale, also occasionally  at Greenville University where she serves as adjunct professor of clarinet/piano.  

In 2016-17 Dr. Burge taught music history, theory, piano and improvisation to music majors at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan, CA, and directed the community orchestra rehearsals.

She has taught class piano, keyboards, accompanying and served as performer and accompanist for the faculty, band, orchestra and student ensembles at University of Colorado and at Southwest Florida State. Several of her college piano students perform at the Yamaha Young Artist Institute in New York City. Dr. Burge serves as adjudicator for area music associations, and has performed as vocalist with Greenville University Messiah concert choir and with the St Louis Bach Society. She continues to perform with the St Louis Wind Symphony and with Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra on clarinet and piano /keyboards. Past students have received scholarships to Central Florida University, University of Colorado and Coe Bible College and professional appointments in the music industry.
