Performance Experience: Performed the Shepherd University Jazz ensemble, Wind ensemble, and Sax Quartet. Solo performances at community functions, such as schools, retirement homes, public theatres, restaurants, etc. Subbed for the Martinsburg Jazz Orchestra and Jordan English Jazz Orchestra.
Teaching Experience: Catherine has taught private woodwind lessons in addition to working with ensembles as a sectional coach and marching and music tech. She also has experience with academic tutoring of music theory and aural skills through Shepherd University.
Teaching Philosophy: Students of all ages should have a chance to learn about music!

Catherine J. Dyer is a Woodwind teacher with experience teaching both privately and through Music & Arts. Catherine believes that everyone of all ages should have a chance to learn about music and is very enthusiastic about helping people along their musical journey. Graduating from Shepherd University with a Bachelor’s Degree in both Performance and Jazz Studies, she teaches and performs in a variety of styles on the Flute, and Clarinet, and Saxophone. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, gaming and, of course, practicing!
