About Catherine McFarland

Get to know Catherine McFarland
Catherine McFarland has 24 years of violin experience and 14 years study in the Suzuki method. For 7 years now she has been offering private music lessons to violinists and violists that address a variety of skills and abilities including ear training and improvisational composition. She studied violin at university level and is currently the lead violinist at Bay Area Community Church. She has written and performed over 100 pieces of violin music in that capacity, as well as writing and performing the violin pieces for their 2017 Christmas EP. Catherine has played the violin since an early age, and competed at the local level with NAC for six years and national level at BNYC for four years. She was seated 4th in CYSO first violins, and competed at county and state level.
Catherine is an avid textile artist and crafter, who enjoys knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She is also an amateur baker and aspiring chef with a bit of an experimental approach. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two nieces, and hopes one day to be able to travel to Italy.
