Get to know Charles Dye
Charlie Dye is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where he studied drumset with Rich Thompson and classical percussion with John Beck. He is the drummer for Theodicy Jazz Collective with whom he has performed at many churches and cathedrals across the country.
In addition to leading services for the Episcopal General Convention, the ensemble has performed at Trinity Wall Street, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the National Cathedral where they served as Ensemble in Residence. Theodicy has released the albums Vespers and Canterbury Jazz Mass, along with a recording of Advent and Christmas music released in December 2018. Additionally, Charlie is the music director, pianist and organist for The First Church in Hartland, in East Hartland, Connecticut. Charlie also teaches percussion privately throughout the greater Hartford area, using a blend of classical and improvisational approaches to music.
