Education: Studied private piano instruction for 12 years, under the direction of Dr. Charles Cordeal. Majored in Music at St. Louis Community College and Maryville University.
Performance Experience: My performances include church services, weddings, funerals, open~mic nights, coffee houses, and miscellaneous celebrations. My favorite performances are when I join a student on stage at our recitals.
Teaching Experience: I have 41 years of teaching music, with Piano being my primary instrument, and Guitar being secondary. In addition to teaching private lessons, I have instructed classes as well. Until last year, I directed a Worship Band for the Academy of Snohomish.
Teaching Philosophy: If a student of mine doesn’t love music throughout the learning process, then I’m not doing my job!
Get to know Cheri Cancila
Hello, and welcome to Music and Arts!
I began my teaching career with Piano and Guitar in August of 1980. Since then, I’ve had
the honor of teaching hundreds of students of all ages, and skill levels. I enjoy playing,
and teaching a variety of musical genres.
I’ve been a member of various Associations for Music Teachers, and in recent years,
taught at Music Maker’s Conservatory in Helena, Montana. After the birth of my
Grandson, I decided to move back to the Seattle area; He was a true “Game
Changer!”
As the years have passed, I find myself even more passionate in sharing the true gift
that Music is.
