Get to know Chima Enwere
Chima Enwere (Nigerian-American) was California-born and North Carolina-raised. He earned his Master of Music degree with a concentration in Keyboard Performance Specialist & Pedagogy from East Carolina University (ECU). His graduate studies encompassed the three main keyboard areas: collaborative piano, piano performance, and organ, and included a pedagogy practicum. Throughout this journey, Chima was fortunate to learn from esteemed instructors, including Drs. Catherine Garner and John O’Brien (piano), Andrew Scanlon and David Arcus (organ), and Paola Savvidou (pedagogy).
In addition to his master’s degree, Chima holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Music Industry Emphasis—Jazz & Commercial Track from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). He’s also equipped with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the UNCP School of Business, further enriching his skill set. During his undergraduate years at UNCP, he honed his musical talents under the mentorship of Drs. Jon and Beth Maisonpierre and Dr. Seung-Ah Kim.
His educational journey in music was significantly supported by the Live Más Scholarship via The Taco Bell Foundation, which he was first awarded in 2017. As a four-time recipient, this scholarship has continued to back his academic pursuits, granting him a total of four scholarships. Chima also had the opportunity to perform for Taco Bell corporate events, including as an opening act for Katy Perry at the 2021 Taco Bell FRANMAC convention.
Chima’s diverse training has equipped him with a wealth of experience across various performance settings. In his 20+ years of playing, he has showcased his talents as a solo pianist, collaborative pianist, pit musician in musicals, marching band keyboardist, jazz ensemble/combo pianist, church keyboardist/organist, and chamber ensemble member. His music has resonated across the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, and at renowned venues, including Disney World and Carowinds. During his senior year of undergraduate studies, he had the honor of performing with the UNCP Wind Ensemble, emerging as one of the winners of the annual UNCP Concerto Competition.
In the summer of 2023, Chima achieved recognition with an Honorable Mention in the Graduate & Professional Division of the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano International Competition. In the summer of 2024, Chima was one of the collaborative pianists for the Ávila International Music Festival in Ávila, Spain.
Currently, Chima serves as an adjunct instructor and collaborative pianist at Fayetteville Technical Community College and holds the roles of music director, pianist, and organist at a local church. He is an active member of the Fayetteville Piano Teachers’ Association (FPTA), a board member of the Cumberland County Chapter of the North Carolina Symphony, and a member of the Music Teachers National Association.
Chima is the CEO/Director of Music Together of Fayetteville LLC, which offers the early childhood music program Music Together®. Since 1987, Music Together has introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers around the world to the powerful benefits of having music in their lives. Today, classes for children from birth through grade two are available worldwide.
