Get to know Chris
Hi there, my name is Chris and I’m a lifelong musician. I was originally trained in classical piano by my grandparents, both of whom were concert pianists, around age 5 and have since gone on to play many other instruments and obtain an A.A. in music. In my 13 years of teaching, I have had the privilege of training with many professional musicians in southern California. I have participated in teacher showcase cover bands, playing bands like ZZ top, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, and a variety of “top hits” of the 00’s at local gigs.
These days I concentrate my own musical focus to a beautiful and artistic style of classical guitar from southern Spain called Flamenco, but I still love helping others reach their dreams of playing Classical guitar and rock/heavy metal electric guitar so that I can share the love that I have for these subjects as well!
You can expect our lessons to be a fun and friendly space for your musical exploration. We will cover theory and learn exercises, in small bits as it applies to the current material, in order to give a well rounded understanding of how the music works as a whole and to give you the tools to learn each song better and faster than the last. We will also be focused on developing superb technique and posture to keep your playing relaxed and fast without tiring your muscles or stressing your body. The most important thing, though, is the music that you love, so we will work together on something that you’ve selected to play, or work toward, and design a personalized lesson plan to meet your goals.
Whether you’d like to play classical/electric/flamenco guitar, or read, write, analyze, and arrange music, I’ll be happy to be your support.
