I grew up in Chambersburg, Pa. I began piano lessons at age 4, I started flute lessons in the 4th grade and private lessons in the 6th grade. I attended Shenandoah University for 2 years, and then transferred to West Chester University as a Music Education Major. I continued my piano and flute studies. I joined Sigma Alpha Iota-an International Music Fraternity for women. After graduation I was hired by West Chester School District to teach Vocal/Choral music. I taught for vocal music for 21 years. Then an opportunity opened to teach Instrumental music at the elementary level. I taught instrumental music for 14 years-flute,oboe,clarinet,saxophone,trumpet,french horn, baritone horn, trombone, and percussion-melodic and rhythmic.
Growing up there was a local community theater that I participated in. And I loved being on the stage. After college, I joined the Chester County Gilbert & Sullivan Society and would do their shows in the fall, and then play with the West Chester Community Band in the spring. I continued with the Band and then joined the Lukens Band, as well.
Now that I'm retired, I enjoy teaching private lessons, playing for weddings, and knitting. I also enjoy the freedom to see my grandchildren in Louisiana.
