Claudia Diener
Music Teacher, Expert
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Speaks: English, Japanese
Instructs: Flute, Guitar, Piano
Education: B.A. Music - University of Mary, Bismarck ND M.A. Music Theory-Composition - Norfolk State University, Norfolk VA
Performance Experience: I was the principle flutist of the University of Mary Concert Band throughout undergrad, for which there were several concerts a year. In my graduate program at Norfolk State University, I participated in Jazz Band as well as performance classes, performing several times a semester on flute and in piano labs. I regularly compose original music and arrange popular pieces for students.
Teaching Experience: I've been teaching for a total of 10 years, and music specifically for about 7 years. The settings I've taught in are primarily private lessons, in addition to summer camps and another music academy.
Teaching Philosophy: Teaching is the process by which I inspire a desire for music in a student via my own passion for music. My goal for students is to grow not only as musicians, but to appreciate music through a compositional, theoretical, and historical lens.

Get to know Claudia Diener

My primary instrument is flute, which I've been playing for about 13 years.  I've been playing piano and casual guitar for about 6 years.  While getting my B.A., I discovered that I had a passion for music composition and decided to pursue an M.A. in that area.

I also have two pitbull mixes and a one-eyed cat, and I enjoy acrylic painting.
