Get to know Collin Zuckerman
Collin Zuckerman has been teaching and performing music for over 15 years and is highly proficient in the styles of Jazz, Rock, Funk, Blues, Classical, Country and RnB. He studied music technology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and it was there that he studied Jazz and Classical guitar under Dr. Jeremy Grall, Dr. Yaniv Attar, Maria Bitran, Carlos Pino, Eric Essix and Dr. Steve Roberts. Collin has long been an active member of the music community in Birmingham. Collin currently performs regionally with the OPOV Band at weddings, parties and music festivals. Collin is also an active member of the local theatre community, having served as a pit orchestra musician at Red Mountain Theatre, the Virginia Samford Theatre, and numerous others for over ten years. Another one of Collin’s noteworthy credits is that he served as the guitarist for the UAB Jazz Ensemble. During his time in this group, the ensemble went on the win the “band of distinction” award (1st place) in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame competition between the years of 2011 and 2014. This ensemble also performed during the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame’s induction of Harry Belafonte. Collin has also had the good fortune to share as stage with jazz greats, Allen Vizzutti and Vincent Di Martino.
Collin views each student as the unique individual that they are, and strives to cultivate a learning experience for them that is reflective of that. Collin’s passion for arts education stems from a belief that the transmission of knowledge is reciprocal for both teachers and students and is highly motivated in the pursuit of helping others achieve their goals.
Collin’s “musical superpower” is that he knows where the “1” is and his playing has been known to cause people to grin from ear to ear.
