About Conor McCarthy

Conor McCarthy
Conor McCarthy
Music Teacher, Professional
Location: Mamaroneck, NY
Speaks: English, Spanish
Instructs: Guitar, Piano
Education: I have studied the past 6 years under the tutelage of Ireland's award winning Annmarie Acosta. During this time I've also studied with numerous guitar masters such as Hiroyuki Yamada and Mary Coogan.
Performance Experience: I don't often perform, however when I do I play at local venues throughout the Bronx and Westchester. Mostly at Bars, and or restaurants.
Teaching Experience: After graduating from lower level classes at Annmarie Acosta's school of Irish music I began to help her with instruction of the lower level students. As I continued to grow as a musician, I was able to offer support to higher level classes at Annmarie Acosta's school of Irish Music. I have been providing private lessons for the past year to a wide range of students ranging from youth to adult. I am also a professional teacher in the Department of Education for New York City.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe first and foremost music is to be fun and enjoyable. I make sure my students WANT to practice and grow as musicians. I also put an enormous emphasis on creation. My goal is to ensure my students not only learn the songs they want to learn, but are able to create their own music. In my class, I give my students the tools to create and express themselves as musicians.
