About Corissa Knecht
Get to know Corissa Knecht
Corissa Knecht is a senior at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of a music studying with Dr. Molly Gebrian. She is a member of the Arizona Symphony Orchestra and the Dvorak Quintet. Before moving to Arizona, Corissa performed with multiple ensembles at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. She also performed with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra. While in Wisconsin, Corissa served as the violist for the Bruch trio which commissioned a work that was premiered for renowned violist Nadia Sirota. It was through this commission that Corissa discovered her love for working with composers to give a voice to new music. Corissa has attended the National Music Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and Wintergreen Summer Music Academy where she has studied with many prominent musicians.
As a teacher, Corissa has experience with many different age groups and experience levels. She is trained in Suzuki and Kaleidoscopes methods. These trainings helped her build a holistic and scaffolded approach to teaching beginners and experienced musicians in a way that is developmentally informed. Corissa has experience teaching private lessons, small groups, and classes of up to 50 students.
