Performance Experience: Special Guest Soloist for the 47th Annual Legislative Conference Gospel Extravaganza in Washington, DC Awarded the Midlands Coalition of Churches Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Music Award (January 2015) Performed the National Anthem at the University of South Carolina’s Women’s Basketball Game Performed across the South including Greenville, Charleston, Augusta (GA), Charlotte (NC), Myrtle Beach, and Rock Hill.

Get to know Curtis Bates

Curtis is a native of Columbia, South Carolina where he received his formal education in Richland One School District and graduated from Eau Claire High School. He also graduated from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education, a Master’s in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, Columbia, SC, and most recently a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He has performed all over the state of South Carolina and received several awards. Curtis has been a Music & Arts Teacher since 2012. Students in his studio have participated in their school district's honor bands, state region bands and all-state bands. A few students have also performed with him professionally and received compensation for their work.
