Get to know Dana Long
Hello! My name is Dana and my true passion and calling in life is music: performing, teaching, listening, and always learning and growing! I started singing while listening to the incredible music my parents brought me up listening to, like Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, and Carly Simon, some of my first vocal "teachers."
I started taking piano lessons, at my own request, when I was 6 years old. I was inspired by listening to my aunt play the piano and organ at church and wanted to be just like her.
From that point on, my life has revolved around music! In high school, I played alto sax in the Marching and Symphonic 1 Band and sang in chorus, talent shows, and stage musicals.
I then decided I wanted to study Music Education in college at UGA and not only performed in the Redcoat Marching and Symphonic Band, and various Choruses, but learned extensively about Vocal and Piano Technique and Performance, Music Theory, Music History, and Teaching.
Since graduating, I have been teaching private voice and piano lessons, conducting choirs of all ages, teaching classroom music, and been Music Director for some children's musical theatre productions.
Personally, I have just been singing every chance I get, from church and community choirs and as a soloist to ensemble and lead roles in stage musicals in local theatre.
But even that is not enough for me, so I love to go out every week and entertain the crowds singing karaoke!
I have been married for 10 years and have a 23 year old son who just graduated from Georgia Tech last year.
