About Dana Musial

Get to know Dana Musial
Dana is an elementary music teacher for Kanawha County Schools. Dana graduated with a B.A. in Music from Adrian College in 2017. While at Adrian, Dana studied music education. Her primary instrument was voice, and she played a variety of wind instruments in marching/pep band, concert band, jazz band, and orchestra. She regularly performed in musicals, plays, and operas in addition to the choirs and workshops required for the degree. In the fall of 2017, Dana began a law degree at The University of Cincinnati. While in law school, Dana was an active member of the Young Professionals Choral Collective. Through YPCC, she was a chorus member in the world premiere of the opera "Blind Injustice." The opera premiered in the summer of 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the original audio recording has since been published on major streaming platforms. Dana moved to Charleston, West Virginia, in September of 2020, and currently resides in Hurricane. Since making West Virginia her home, she has taken advantage of the many musical opportunities in her community. Dana has played the clarinet with the Charleston Metropolitan Band and the Kanawha Valley Community Band, and she has been singing alto with the West Virginia Symphony Chorus since September of 2021. She has played cornet with the Brass Band of the Tri-State since April of 2023. It is Dana's educational philosophy that an effective teacher is always engaged in professional development. Accordingly, Dana continues to study voice under Dr. Carline Waugh and Dr. Alexander Lee at Marshall University, where she is a graduate student of the College of Education.
