About Danny Jones
Get to know Danny Jones
Daniel is a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music, studying trumpet
performance under the tutelage of Professor James Thompson. Daniel started playing the trumpet
in 5th grade, and by high school, he had decided on becoming a professional musician. He began
to study trumpet with Mike Rubenstein in 8th grade, and through studying with Mike, he was
exposed to many genres of music, and has been able to be versatile in both classical and jazz due
to his tutelage. Dan has also studied with Tim Wendt, one of NYC’s top freelance commercial
trumpet players, and has also studied piano with Cheryl Fried. Some of Dan’s biggest high
school accomplishments were playing and performing in the Nassau-Suffolk Wind Symphony,
the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, and getting honorable mentions in the North
Shore Symphony Concerto Competition. While at Eastman, Dan performed with the Eastman
Wind Ensemble, Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman Jazz Lab Band, and the Eastman Opera. In the
fall, Daniel will be pursuing his masters degree at Stony Brook University, studying with Kevin
Cobb of the American Brass Quintet. In his free time, Dan enjoys teaching his trumpet studio,
cooking, and doing anything nature related, due to his time in the Boy Scouts of America
program, where he received the rank of Eagle Scout.
