Teaching Experience: I am Music Education major in my junior year at Western Kentucky University. I have taught group and private lessons for 9 years.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe that students’ aesthetic values should be influential in the creation of musical curriculums. While I believe that all musicians should be well-versed in many different genres of music, not all students want to be classically trained. For this reason, music educators should explore the musical aesthetics of their students to find what it is that interests them. If students want to learn how to play in jazz styles, they shouldn’t be forced to play Mozart’s concerti.
