Get to know David Shumway
David Shumway had the good fortune to be raised in a musical family in Lawrence, Kansas. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he attended the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, and he eventually became very much in demand as a freelance cellist. He served as principal cellist in the Baltimore Opera, the Chorale Arts Society, Opera Vivente, and many others. The Baltimore Sun has described Dr. Shumway's playing as "solid" and "vivid". He now lives in Gettysburg with his wife and three dogs, where he plays jazz piano and sings in a community chorus.
