Demiana Ibrahim has been playing the violin for fifteen years. She studied with Bonnie Bell in Redlands, California up until she began attending Scripps College to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Music where she studies with Rachel Huang. She participated in the CSMA orchestra program at the University of Redlands for eight years and was concertmaster of the Youth Strings Sinfonia before becoming a first violinist in the Redlands Youth Symphony. In 2016, Demiana was invited to attend the Jascha Heifetz Symposium of Individual Style in New London, Connecticut. There, she attended an intensive series of lessons and masterclasses with students of the celebrated violinist Jascha Heifetz and with Concertmaster of the New York Ballet, Arturo Delmoni. She returned the next year and is very proud to be able to carry on the legacy of such a great violinist.
At the Claremont Colleges, she is a member of the Claremont Concert Orchestra under the leadership of Dr. David Cubek. She also is a part of Music Mentors of Pomona Valley in which every year, she mentors a young student in learning the violin. This opportunity set her on her teaching path and now has two years of experience teaching different ages under her belt.
Demiana’s passion for music and belief in its power has only grown throughout her life, and she is excited to be able to pursue something so meaningful professionally. She is trained in the Classical Western Cannon, but recently has been reaching back to her North African roots to learn and incorporate Egyptian/Arabic melodies into her skill set and knowledge of the violin.
