Get to know Sam Coffey

A graduate of New England Conservatory and NYU in the ‘90s, Sam has spent his life pursuing all aspects of music, from performing with jazz bands, rock bands and orchestras, composing small and large-scale works, writing soundtracks for films, developing teaching methods for improvisation, to songwriting, song-recording and mixing. He recently completed 22 years of service to his country as a pianist and arranger in the Navy and Army bands. In this job he got to write and perform for grateful audiences all around the world and also honed his abilities as a recordist, producer and mixing engineer. He looks forward to helping students interested in learning composition/improvisation (any instrument), song-writing (from blank page to streamable mp3) as well as developing the basics of piano performance.

Whatever form it takes, Sam hopes to share his passion for making music and help others along their own journey of self discovery through music.
