About Drew Sarette
Get to know Drew Sarette
He has taught students ranging from age four to the university level, and his students have participated in Floyd County Youth Symphony, Kentuckiana Philharmonic, and several excellent local school orchestras. Students have deepened their appreciation for music, advanced to leadership positions in their ensembles, performed in regular studio recitals, and been accepted into the string music education program at the University of Louisville.
Drew believes the teacher’s role is to guide and accompany the student on a journey of discovery, developing a positive life-long relationship with music through the violin. Using demonstrations, stories, exercises, and humor gleaned from twenty years of study of traditional and Suzuki methods, Drew motivates his students to notice details, think critically, develop new skills, and practice.
When not teaching, Drew performs with the Lexington Chamber Orchestra and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra (aux.). Recent projects include a chamber music concert of Brahms’s Horn Trio and Schnittke’s Suite in the Old Style, as well as study of Baroque performance practice leading to a recital of works by Couperin, Telemann, and Castello.
