About Mrs. Elisabeth
Get to know Mrs. Elisabeth
I, Elisabeth, was born in German speaking Switzerland and started taking violin lessons after receiving a quarter size violin for my 7th birthday from my grandfather. I took to it rather easily and during my youth performed in orchestra, for school plays and at solo recitals with my dad as my piano accompanist.
When I moved to Colorado with my husband Peter and my two daughters Mirjam and Sibylle I was lucky to meet violinist Tamara Mullikin who I was able to study with at Metro State University in Denver. Under her tutelage I graduated with a violin performance degree magna cum laude.
In order to lean deeper into the art of teaching string instruments I enrolled in the pedagogy program at the School of Music at CU Boulder. There I learned a lot about teaching fingering techniques, bowing styles and choosing repertoire.
Since then I taught at “HappyToons Music Lessons with a Smile” that I owned and operated for eleven years. And then I got hired to teach violin and viola lessons at Music & Arts which I truly enjoy.
As a String Teachers Association and Music Teachers Association member I’m receiving ongoing training and inspirations to hone my craft as a violin and viola teacher. My best teachers are my students who I continuously learn from.
In my free time I love to spend time with family and friends, throw dinner parties, do outdoor sports, go on road trip adventures, relax with yoga and meditation.
