Performance Experience: I am frequently performing with an established classic and rock String Quartet out of Boulder for weddings and events. I also perform with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and as a Soloist. My favorite is performing as a violin/guitar duo. In the past I have been concertmaster for the Denver Pops Orchestra and was backup fiddler in an Eclectic Rock Band from Lafayette using my pickup to hook into loudspeakers. My website: www.violingig.com
Teaching Experience: I have taught one on one violin and viola lessons since 2005. When the pandemic hit I was able to adapt to online lessons learning engaging ways from virtual resources. My students successes: accepted into Boulder Youth Symphony Orchestra (GBYO) with recorded audition during pandemic / Chamber Orchestra at high school also online / All State Orchestra / Jazz Ensemble at CU Denver / Front Range Youth Symphony at the Arvada Center / Solo performance at high school / Broomfield Community Orchestra.
Teaching Philosophy: My Three Pillars: One: Provide a positive learning experience that is encouraging and uplifting for students of any age or ability. Have a say in what style you play! Two: Instill technical accuracy that allows for mastering of the instrument. Play your instrument with ease and understand the composition of music. Three: Let your own expression flow into your playing. Infuse dynamics, emotions and improvisation. “A Song is always the Song – Words mean different things to People.”

Get to know Mrs. Elisabeth

I, Elisabeth, was born in German speaking Switzerland and started taking violin lessons after receiving a quarter size violin for my 7th birthday from my grandfather. I took to it rather easily and during my youth performed in orchestra, for school plays and at solo recitals with my dad as my piano accompanist.

When I moved to Colorado with my husband Peter and my two daughters Mirjam and Sibylle I was lucky to meet violinist Tamara Mullikin who I was able to study with at Metro State University in Denver. Under her tutelage I graduated with a violin performance degree magna cum laude.

In order to lean deeper into the art of teaching string instruments I enrolled in the pedagogy program at the School of Music at CU Boulder. There I learned a lot about teaching fingering techniques, bowing styles and choosing repertoire.

Since then I taught at “HappyToons Music Lessons with a Smile” that I owned and operated for eleven years. And then I got hired to teach violin and viola lessons at Music & Arts which I truly enjoy.

As a String Teachers Association and Music Teachers Association member I’m receiving ongoing training and inspirations to hone my craft as a violin and viola teacher. My best teachers are my students who I continuously learn from.

In my free time I love to spend time with family and friends, throw dinner parties, do outdoor sports, go on road trip adventures, relax with yoga and meditation.
