Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance/Accompanying
Performance Experience: Ellen has served as pianist and accompanist for various performances throughout her university studies and continued her piano skills in various settings after graduation, some of which are church, restaurants, country clubs, parties, weddings, school choirs, and playing for vocal and instrumental soloists. She has also utilized her piano skills at Dallas Baptist University, accompanying college vocal students in private lessons and performances.
Teaching Experience: Ellen has provided private piano instruction to all ages and levels for 30+ years from her home, 7 years at Music & Arts, and this next school year will be her 5th year of giving class piano instruction to PreK through 5th-grade students at Lancaster ISD in Lancaster, TX. She has also taught elementary music and choir in various schools in the Red Oak, Waxahachie, Oak Cliff, Fort Worth, TX area for several years and accompanied as well as directed her programs.
Teaching Philosophy: Ellen has a passion for music and enjoys teaching as well as playing the piano. She is proud to include her piano students on any recital or performance of any kind. She is able to instill music into each of her students and produce quality performances. She says that her reward as a teacher is seeing the pride in her students after they have performed on a recital. Striving to learn that piece and performing it gives the student a great sense of accomplishment and definitely builds confidence.
