About Ellen Avivov

Ellen Avivov has been playing piano since she was 5 years old and violin since she was 8 years old. Ellen has immersed herself in playing numerous types of music throughout her musical career including but not limited to: Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Bluegrass. Ellen has a  B.A. in Music from The College of New Jersey where she studied with Rutao Mao. Ellen has also studied with Lenuta Ciulei at Mason Gross School of the Arts. Ellen has performed at Avery Fisher Hall on violin as the Concermaster of NJSYO twice and piano at Carnegie Hall as an Olympic Challenge Finalist at the age of 14. Ellen has played with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra and she currently plays with The Rivseride Orchestra in New York City. Ellen has spent the last 8 years dedicating her time to teaching kids and adults both violin and piano. She has experience teaching at all skill levels. Ellen's teaching philosophy is to provide students with a friendly and encouraging environment while helping students gain valuable skills for expressing themselves through music. What makes Ellen unique is she incorporates in her lessons education on how to practice in an effective way outside of the lesson classroom since this is something that can be challenging for students at all levels.
