      Ellen Wu
      Music Teacher, Professional
      Location: Charlottesville, VA
      Speaks: English
      Instructs: Piano
Education: Currently finishing last semester pursuing a Bachelor degree in Psychology at the University of Virginia.
Performance Experience: I was the first place winner at the 30th Annual Harold Protsman Classical Period Piano Competition by Old Dominion University in 2016, Piano Scholarship Winner in “Colors of the Wind Holiday Gale" in 2017, and Piano Sonata Festival of NVTMA finals and Honors Recital Winner from 2016 to 2018. I also participated and earned the highest ratings from the Piano Sonata Festival from 2016 to 2018 and received the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music Grade 8 Merit Certificate 3.
Teaching Experience: I began teaching in 2015 to beginner students and prepared students for ABRSM exams annually.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe that establishing foundational skills is the most important aspect to achieving a good education. I like to put emphasis on developing the ability to play scales and chords, as well as aural skills and theory. After these have been mastered, more complex pieces are easier to learn.
