Performance Experience: Erin is an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and an active flute/piccolo sub with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in venues across Western New York, New York City, Miami and Chicago as an orchestral musician. As a soloist, she has performed under Charles Neidich as a flute soloist for pieces such as Liebermann's Flute Concerto and Mozart's Concerto in G Major. She has given additional recitals at DePaul University, Queens College and Buffalo State College.
Teaching Experience: Erin has been teaching private music lessons for ten years. In that time, she has started many beginner students, as well as help advanced students prepare for auditions, competitions and performances. She has taught lessons in public school programs, as well as at private music schools. Erin has tutored undergraduate college students in theory, sight singing, and dictation, as well as prepped high school students for the AP Music Theory exam.
Teaching Philosophy: My primary goal is to pass on an appreciation and joy for music making. Communication, respect and positivity are important elements present in my lessons. I devote time to expanding and stabilizing fundamental skills, as well as learning new techniques. I challenge students with new repertoire regularly in order to keep them interested and engaged. I strongly believe lessons should be a growing experience for students at all levels, and tailor each student's lessons to their individual goals.

Get to know Erin Keppner

Erin Keppner earned her Masters of Music at DePaul University in Chicago, where she studied with the principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Previously, Erin completed her Bachelors of Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City. As a native of Western New York and a graduate of Iroquois Central Schools, Erin has performed with ensembles such as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Erie Chamber Orchestra, Erie County Wind Ensemble, and Cheektowaga and Orchard Park Symphonies. Passionate about music education, Erin has over ten years of experience teaching flute/piccolo, piano, music theory and general music. Her students have earned positions in ECMEA and NYSSMA honor ensembles, as well as college music programs. She has taught for organizations such as The People’s Music School (Chicago, IL,) Rhythm NY (Queens, NY,) The Art of Piano Playing (Long Island, NY,) The Aaron Copland School of Music (Queens, NY,) Matt’s Music (Tonawanda, NY) and Iroquois Summer Lesson program (Elma, NY.) Erin specializes in teaching flute, piccolo, piano and ukulele.
