Education: B.M. in Jazz Arranging and Composition from Berkleee College of Music. I was Profiled in Berklee Today Magazine as a music industry icon in the recording industry and highest honors for achieving a Grammy as Best Arranger on a Jazz recording.
Performance Experience: Arranger and Jazz guitarist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra (Won a Grammy for Best Jazz Arranger) Played with several all-female big bands on guitar such as the Kit McClure Big Band and the Big Band Divas traveling the United States. I started my own Big Band as conductor and arranger called the Franki Gorruso Big Band and still play and rehearse in the New York Metro area.
Teaching Experience: since 2002
Teaching Philosophy: I want to share the gift of music. I love playing the guitar as an expression of creativity, and passion. Learning to play is a commitment but with hard work and patience, the reward is forever.
