About Geo Wilkerson

Get to know Geo Wilkerson
Dr. George Wilkerson holds the Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from
West Chester University of Pennsylvania, the Master of Arts in Music degree from Morgan State
University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Shenandoah Conservatory. Dr. Wilkerson has extensive experience in instrumental music as well as vocal music. His
principal band instruments are percussion and saxophones, but he is knowledgeable in the
teaching of all winds. In addition to numerous recitals, Dr. Wilkerson has sung opera and musical
theatre; most notably performing the roles of Beppe in Pagliacci, Alfred in Die Fledermaus,
Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Bill in A Hand of Bridge, Professor Bhaer in Little Women: The
Musical, Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Jake in Side Show. He has also performed as a
soloist in oratorio and church worship situations.
Dr. Wilkerson has over 20 years of teaching experience and is certified to teach
instrumental and vocal music in Maryland and Virginia. He is currently the Director of Vocal
Music and Assistant Director of Instrumental Music at a Maryland high school with 12 years of
service there. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the
National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the American Choral Directors Association
(ACDA), the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), and the Maryland Music Educators Association
(MdMEA).
