Get to know Gregory Thompson
With 16 years of playing experience, Gregory Thompson, originally born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, currently holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Performance: Instrumental Emphasis from Northern Arizona University. He was named the winner of Northern Arizona University’s 2021 Concerto Competition. He was an instructor and graduate assistant for the NAU’s Kitt School of Music for the duration of his graduate degree; teaching private lessons, as well as Woodwind Techniques class. Gregory has been a part of Kitt School of Music’s Wind Symphony for six years, as well as the Jazz I ensemble for three years. He was the saxophone adjudicator for the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) regional band competition Northwest Region for two years. He has also performed with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra for their 2022 season. Along with this, he received second place prize in the 2015 Tempe Youth Center Chamber Ensemble competition. Gregory is currently pursuing his musical performing and pedagogy on the east coast in Virginia.
