Get to know Hayley Walkingstick
I can't remember a time when music wasn't a part of my life. Even as a young child, I was always curious about music which resulted in me starting piano lessons at the young age of three. Ever since then, I have explored every musical opportunity that comes my way, including starting the flute and joining band in my sophmore year of high school. I was a member of the Claudia Taylor Johnson High School Band Program, which included the marching band, the jazz bands, and various concert bands. After graduating high school, I decided to pursue a degree in music education and enrolled in San Antonio College's music program. It was there that I studied both piano and flute under Dr. Anastasio and Dr. Fabrique. Upon graduation of my associate's in music in May 2020, I transferred to the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I am currently working on my bachelor's in music education with a focus on instrumental. I am currently studying under Dr. Woolf and am a part of the Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band (SOSA) at UTSA. My future goals are to become a band director one day and I hope to inspire a love of creativity and passion for my students through music education.
