      Performance Experience: I’ve performed in my church choir for almost 15 years! I later became Choir Leader for the Adult Choir here in VA and in WI. While at University, I participated in the Elite and chambers-Men Choir, Jazz Band, and was the Choir and Section Leader in my ensembles. I performed in local cinemas as a lounge performer, and partook in musical theatre (Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Spring Awakening, Godspell, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Hairspray, and a new musical called Hamlet-A cover).
      Teaching Experience: 2.5 years of instruction.
      Teaching Philosophy: I instruct my students to stretch and grow outside of their comfort zones. I work on a Try, Walk, Teach, Repeat philosophy. My student will Try something we are working on, we will then Walk through certain parts of a piece of music they have difficulty understanding. I then Teach about the aspect of the piece that will allow them to understand it more clearly while still comprehending and analyzing what is still to come. Lastly, Repeat these notions until we master the piece!

      Get to know Ian Griffith

      Hello everyone! My name is Ian Griffith and I am 25 years old. I live in Hampton, Virginia BUT My wife and I are originally from the state of Wisconsin. Yes, yes, I know, the land of cows and cheese! We moved to Virginia in 2019 due to my wife being in the military, the Navy to be exact! During my time here I finished up my Bachelor's Degree at Carroll University in Wisconsin. I majored in Music Arts and Theatre Arts- with an emphasis in composition. I have a passion(and an obsession) with Musical Theatre. My dream is to be a composer or performer on Broadway or Off-Broadway. I do promise though that my passion for teaching music is just as abundant as my love for Musical Theatre and Music in and of itself. I can't wait to welcome, learn and grow with you!
