About Jack Keckler

Jack Keckler
Jack Keckler
Music Teacher, Master
Location: Fort Collins, CO
Speaks: English
Instructs: Bass Guitar, Cello, Guitar, Music Theory, Technology, Ukulele, Voice
Education: Some College, and more than 10 years experience teaching and performing.
Performance Experience: As far as classical music, I've played with The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, The Powder River Symphony, and The Loveland Symphony Orchestra, as well as too many trios and quartets to count. In the world of jazz, I've worked with The Jazz Foundation of Jackon Hole, The UW Jazz Quartet, and many other unnamed combos. I've managed, produced. and performed with a long list of other bands and artist in styles including but not limited to bluegrass, blues, rockabilly, rock, metal, country, and hiphop.
Teaching Experience: I've been teaching private lessons throughout Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming for a while now. I conducted the Eastern Wyoming Youth Orchestra from 2017 to 2021, as well as many group classes focusing on guitar, ukulele, piano, and small ensemble/band coaching.
Teaching Philosophy: Music is for everybody! You don't need to be a prodigy to enjoy it and gain so much from the experience. I believe teaching and learning music are two sides of the same coin: a life-long journey that is more about the process than the final product. Taking care to cultivate a healthy and welcoming environment ensures a much more enjoyable learning experience, which in turn makes better music and better performances.

Get to know Jack Keckler

My name is Jack Keckler, and I am a private instructor here at Music and Arts!

I am a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and recording artist (under the name Jack Elliott). I have been teaching in both private and ensemble settings for the past decade. I was one of the most in demand teachers at The Harmony Project in Southern Wyoming from 2016 to 2022. In addition to my private lessons, I ran rehearsals for the Eastern Wyoming Youth Orchestra and hosted several ensemble coaching classes. From 2019 to 2021 I taught “Kidz Rock” classes, aimed at kids from the ages of four to seven to start playing in a small rock band setting. This was particularly challenging lesson planning for virtual classes during the pandemic in a way that was still engaging and informative for the kids, but we managed to write so many songs and learned more about the inner workings of a band. Past students of mine have achieved placements in All State, top orchestras in String Clinics, as well as various honors ensembles.

I have played professionally in many different musical worlds, including symphonies such as The Wyoming Symphony and The Powder River Symphony, jazz bands such as The Jazz Foundation of Jackson Hole and the UW Jazz Quartet, and countless “contemporary” styles ranging from bluegrass to country to rock and metal. I toured with the rockabilly band formerly known as Wyatt Lowe and the Ottomatics during the year of 2014, playing upright bass. I toured with, recorded, and executive produced alt rock band Fat Stallion from 2015 to 2020. I also regularly work with other artists recording, producing, engineering, mixing, and mastering music for release.
