Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is rooted in having my students learn how to read music and play music by ear. Understanding music theory, ear training, creativity, gear and technique are critical to becoming proficient at an instrument. I also communicate to my students the importance of confidence, discipline and consistency when learning an instrument as those three things can separate good musicians from great musicians.
Get to know Jailan Williams
My name is Jailan Williams, a Musician-Entrepreneur from Florence, South Carolina. I graduated from College of Charleston in the spring of 2021 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Arts Management and a Minor in Music.
I've been a musician since the age of 12. I play and teach bass guitar, trombone, and piano/keyboard. I am the band leader for my group JP Band, a 4 piece cover band based in Charleston, South Carolina. I'm also the Co-Founder and Co-Host of my podcast, JusMusic Podcast. On my podcast, I interview colleagues contributing to the Charleston music scene.
